Hi, I’m Rachel Maytum, an artist exploring the expressive world of abstract realism acrylic painting and coloured pencil realism. My artistic journey has shifted over time, while I once focused on highly detailed pastel portraits, I’ve recently transitioned to working with coloured pencils and acrylics, discovering a fresh sense of freedom and creative expression along the way.

Coloured pencils allow me to maintain the precision and detail I loved in pastels, while acrylics have opened up a whole new world of movement, texture, and spontaneity. With acrylics, I embrace looser brushstrokes and bold compositions, blending realism with expressive elements in a style that reflects both emotion and structure. Abstract realism gives me the best of both worlds capturing familiar forms with an imaginative twist.

Beyond the canvas, I’m passionate about the business of being an artist - building a website, running an online shop, and connecting with fellow creatives through social media. Through Rachel Maytum Art, I aim to inspire and educate others who love both realism and expressive art.
